How our forecast pages work

Last reviewed 3 November 2026

  • Provider: MET Norway (Norwegian Meteorological Institute) Locationforecast. Outside the Nordic countries it is based on the global model of the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). Licensed under CC BY 4.0; MET Norway does not endorse this site.
  • Refresh: each morning at about 05:00 and every three hours during the day. Each page shows when it was updated and when the next update is due.
  • What we show: temperature, "feels like" temperature, conditions, rainfall in millimetres, sustained wind speed and direction, humidity and the clear-sky UV index. "High" and "low" are the highest and lowest model temperatures for the rest of each calendar day in South African time. Sunrise and sunset are calculated from each place's coordinates.
  • Current conditions are the model's estimate for the current hour, not a weather-station reading.
  • If data is missing or old: the page says the forecast is temporarily unavailable and shows no numbers, rather than showing old ones as today's.
  • Warnings come only from the South African Weather Service. Where our briefing mentions stormy or very hot weather, it is a forecast outlook, not a warning.
  • Nation Watch SA does not produce its own forecasts.
